Adults Group Lessons Serre Chevalier
Adult skiing group lessons
Adult group lessons at ESF Serre Chevalier offer a sociable and structured way to learn or improve your skiing and snowboarding. With instructors working across the different villages of the valley, adults can join level-appropriate classes while enjoying access to one of the Alps' major ski areas, with around 250 km of pistes between 1,200 and 2,800 metres.
One of the strongest reasons to choose a group course is the atmosphere. ESF describes its adult programme as an opportunity to progress within a friendly, convivial group while sharing the experience of discovering or improving skiing. For solo travellers, couples and friends, this can make ski school part of the social side of the holiday rather than simply a technical activity. Spending several consecutive days with the same instructor and a group at a similar level also gives participants time to become more confident and build on what they learned previously.
At the Chantemerle ESF, adult ski groups range from Discovery level through to Class 4, so the programme is suitable for complete beginners as well as confident skiers looking for more advanced coaching. Groups are organised around relatively homogeneous ability levels, allowing the instructor to set a suitable pace and concentrate on the skills that matter most to the class.
The standard group format accommodates approximately six to ten students per instructor, with a small adjustment possible when pupils change levels. This creates a balance between individual feedback and the friendly atmosphere of learning alongside other adults.
The purpose of the classes is not simply to follow an instructor down the mountain. Lessons combine technical coaching with practical skiing, helping participants become more comfortable and capable as the week progresses.
For beginners, this can mean developing balance, braking, turning and confidence on the easier pistes. Intermediate skiers can concentrate on improving their technique and tackling a wider range of terrain, while advanced participants can work towards more refined and demanding skiing.
The level-based organisation is particularly valuable for adults who may have very different amounts of previous experience. Instead of putting all participants into one broad class, ESF aims to create groups where students can progress together at a comparable pace.

Adult snowboarding group lessons
Snowboarders have their own group programme, with classes ranging from **beginner through to expert**. At the Chantemerle ESF, snowboard groups are limited to just four participants per instructor, giving riders considerably more individual attention than the standard ski groups.
The snowboard courses are mixed by age rather than restricted to adults alone, with participants aged 10 and over able to join according to ability. This means adult snowboarders can learn alongside other riders who share their level, regardless of age.
