Children / Teenagers Group Lessons
Children / Teenagers group lessons
ESF Alpe d’Huez offers a broad range of ski programmes for younger holidaymakers, with activities adapted to different ages and skiing abilities. From toddlers experiencing their first snow activities to teenagers looking for more challenging skiing, the school provides a progressive pathway designed to combine learning, confidence and enjoyment on the mountain. Group lessons are organised by dividing participants according to age and ability level, so that everyone can learn alongside people of a similar standard. This ensures both better teaching and learning, as well as more enjoyment.
First Ski Experiences for Young Children
Children can begin their skiing journey from around three and a half years old at the Chalet des Enfants in the Bergers area. This specially protected environment is designed for very young skiers, with playful courses, snow activities and dedicated facilities that make their first experience of skiing relaxed and enjoyable. The programme introduces children to skiing gradually and includes a medal ceremony at the end of the week.

Children's Group Ski Lessons
From the age of four, children can join ESF's standard group ski lessons. Courses cater for youngsters aged 4 to 12 and cover a progression from beginner skiing through to advanced and competition levels. Groups are generally limited to around 10 participants, although numbers can vary slightly to maintain appropriate ability groupings. Lessons combine technical development with games and varied activities, helping children become increasingly comfortable on skis while enjoying the experience with other young skiers. The recognised progression includes levels such as Ourson, Flocon and the Étoile stages. For children who have achieved the third star, the Team Étoiles programme provides an opportunity to take their skiing further. Sessions introduce more varied challenges, including timed activities, early jumps and technical exercises, with an emphasis on developing independence and confidence.

Groups are limited to approximately 10 participants, allowing young people to ski alongside others of a similar age while receiving guidance from a qualified instructor. The programme accommodates different abilities and aims to make skiing varied and engaging. Teenagers can improve their technique, explore different ways of enjoying the snow and continue working towards higher ski-school levels.
