Children Group Lessons Avoriaz

Children’s group lessons at ESF Avoriaz give young skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to learn in a fun, structured environment while spending time with other children of a similar ability. The school divides its programmes by age and experience, making it easier for children to join a class that matches both their development and their confidence on the snow.

Instructors also check children's ability on arrival, so parents are advised to choose the level carefully when booking. ESF specifically warns against deliberately booking a child into a class above or below their appropriate level, as the school may be unable to accommodate them in the wrong group.

A major benefit of the ESF format is that children's skiing follows a recognisable progression pathway. Rather than placing every young skier into a generic class, the school uses established levels such as Ourson, Flocon and the Étoile stages to help instructors work with children according to their existing skills.

Children's Group Ski Lessons from Age 6

For children between 6 and 12 years old, ESF Avoriaz offers group ski lessons ranging from the beginner Ourson level through to Étoile d'Or, the highest level in the standard children's progression. This allows children to continue developing their skills as they become more confident and technically capable.

Beginners joining the Ourson programme are introduced to skiing gradually, with instructors focusing on creating a positive first experience on snow. Children who already have some experience can enter the Flocon-to-Étoile d'Or programme, where lessons become progressively more demanding as their ability develops.

Children's Group Snowboard Lessons from Age 8

ESF Avoriaz also provides group snowboard instruction for children from 8 years old, covering beginners through to more experienced young riders. The programme gives children the chance to become comfortable on a snowboard, develop their technique and progressively take on more challenging terrain.

For children who have already reached the required level, the school also offers a seasonal ESF Snowboard Club from age eight. Children need at least the 1ère étoile snowboard level and can attend sessions on Saturdays throughout the season, combining technical development with riding alongside friends.

Young snowboarders interested in freestyle can also progress into dedicated freestyle group sessions. ESF Avoriaz's current programme offers freestyle snowboard from age 12 during school holidays.
