Children Group Lessons Les Arcs
Children’s group lessons at the ESF ski and snowboard schools in Les Arcs are designed to make learning on snow enjoyable, progressive and appropriate to each child’s age and ability. From toddlers discovering their first sensations on skis to older children developing stronger technique, ESF provides structured tuition in a friendly environment where youngsters can learn alongside others at a similar stage.
ESF operates in several parts of Les Arcs, including Arc 1600, Arc 1950, Arc 1800, Arc 2000, so the exact ages, schedules, meeting points and programmes depend on the location selected. At Arc 1950, for example, ESF offers children’s programmes ranging from early-years skiing to snowboard lessons for older children.

Ski Lessons for Babies and Toddlers from Age 3
For very young children, the emphasis is on discovering snow rather than demanding technical performance straight away. At ESF Arc 1950, children aged three and four can join the Piou Piou programme, where they learn in a dedicated, secure play area. Four-year-olds who already have skiing experience and have achieved the Garolou level can move into the Oursons group. These early sessions use games and age-appropriate activities to help children become comfortable with their equipment, balance and movement. The goal is to create positive associations with skiing while gradually introducing the basic skills needed for future progression.

Children's Group Ski Lessons from Age 5
At ESF Arc 1600, children's group skiing is offered from the Ourson stage through to competition level. The school says that both beginners and more experienced children are encouraged to progress at their own pace while benefiting from the atmosphere of a group lesson.
This progressive structure means that children do not have to start again each time they return for a ski holiday. As their ability develops, they can work towards increasingly demanding levels and become more independent on the mountain.
Teaching children to ski requires a different approach from teaching adults. ESF's programmes are built around age and ability, allowing instructors to communicate technical ideas in a way that children can understand. This combination of play, encouragement and structured development can help children gain confidence without making the learning process feel overly formal.
A group lesson offers more than technical instruction. Children spend time with other young skiers, which can make the experience more sociable and motivating. They can practise together, watch their classmates improve and celebrate achievements at the end of the week. For families, this also gives children an element of independence during the holiday. Parents can enjoy their own time on the mountain while their children are learning in an organised environment under professional supervision.

Teenager Ski Lessons from Age 13 to 17 years old
Older children and teenagers may benefit from a programme designed specifically for their age group rather than being placed with younger children. ESF Arc 1600 offers group ski lessons for teenagers aged 13 and over, with all ability levels catered for. The school describes these courses as combining progression with a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. This can be particularly appealing to teenagers who want to develop their skiing while spending time with peers rather than participating in a younger children's programme.

Children's Group Snowboard Lessons from Age 8
ESF also provides children's snowboard instruction in Les Arcs. At Arc 1600, snowboard group lessons are available from the age of eight and are divided according to ability. The programme is designed to help children discover snowboarding while developing their skills progressively and confidently. For youngsters who are more interested in riding a board than skiing, these programmes provide a dedicated route into snowboarding without requiring them to have previously completed ski-school levels.
