Children Group Lessons Valmorel

Children’s group lessons at the ESF ski and snowboard school in Valmorel provide a structured and enjoyable introduction to winter sports, with programmes designed around different ages and ability levels. From young children experiencing snow for the first time to confident youngsters preparing for more advanced skiing, the school uses progressive teaching to help children develop skills while enjoying time on the mountain.

ESF Valmorel offers children's skiing from around age three, with snowboard instruction available from age eight. Its programmes include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as options for children interested in competition and more varied mountain experiences.

Ski Lessons for Babies and Toddlers from Age 3

For children aged three to five, ESF Valmorel's Club Piou-Piou provides an introductory environment where learning is centred around play and discovery. Rather than immediately expecting very young children to ski on demanding pistes, instructors use age-appropriate activities to familiarise them with snow, skis and basic movement.

This early experience is intended to build confidence and enjoyment. Children can gradually become comfortable wearing their equipment, sliding and controlling their movements before progressing towards more conventional ski lessons.

As they become more capable, children can move into the ESF progression system and work towards recognised levels such as Ourson and Flocon.

Children's Group Ski Lessons from Age 5

ESF Valmorel offers group ski courses for children aged six to 12, covering a wide range of ability levels. Programmes progress from Ourson through to more advanced levels, including the higher Star levels.

Organising children according to ability allows instructors to adapt exercises and terrain to the group. Beginners can concentrate on essential skills, while more experienced children can develop better control, technique and confidence on increasingly varied slopes.

For families returning to Valmorel in future seasons, the progressive system also gives children clear milestones to work towards.

Group lessons provide children with an opportunity to learn alongside others of a similar age and ability. This can make the experience more social than private tuition and can encourage children to participate, practise and learn from their classmates.

For many young skiers, the group atmosphere becomes an important part of the holiday. Children can make friends, share their progress and enjoy the sense of achievement that comes from completing exercises together. At the same time, instructors can provide guidance and feedback while keeping the lesson appropriate for the group's overall ability.
