Kaprun Overview

Kaprun is a lively village with glacier skiing and easy-to-reach beginner slopes. Kaprun has a superb snow record and is home to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier offering some of the most snowsure slopes in Austria.

Easy access from the village too, take the K-onnection gondola and you’re there. You will find some great wide-open blues on the glacier itself or some steeper blacks a bit lower down.

The resort itself has a good selection of cafe's, bars and restaurants so plenty to do during your stay, the Tauern Spa is worth a visit which has saunas, steam rooms , and waterslides.

Activities - Kaprun offers many activities to do during your holiday, such as ice skating, ice hockey games, snow biking, snow tubing, alpine coaster, paragliding, nordic walking, glacier walks, cross country skiing, floodlit skiing.

Restaurants - Kaprun offers a varied dining scene that combines traditional Austrian cooking with modern Alpine cuisine and international flavours. Visitors can choose between cosy village inns, stylish restaurants, mountain huts and casual cafés, with many menus making use of regional ingredients from the Salzburg area. For traditional Austrian food, examples include Gastwirtschaft Tafern and Hilberger's Beisl, while Restaurant Grainer´s Dorfstadl offers a classic Alpine setting and regional cuisine. For something more contemporary, LUIS GARDENS - Restaurant provides a modern dining experience, while Pizzeria Venezia is an option for Italian food and pizza. Kaprun also has several mountain restaurants around the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel, making it easy to combine a day in the mountains with traditional Austrian food and spectacular alpine surroundings.

The atmosphere is generally centred around the village and the valley stations, making it easy to continue the evening after a day on the Kitzsteinhorn or Maiskogel. Popular examples include Baumbar, known for its dedicated après-ski arena, live entertainment and weekend club nights. Pavillon Après-Ski Bar is another established choice for drinks and a relaxed après-ski atmosphere in the centre of Kaprun. On the mountain, Eisbär-Bar am Maiskogl provides drinks, music and a convenient stop directly beside the piste. The Häuslalm Après-Ski Bar on the Kitzsteinhorn is another option, with DJs and a lively atmosphere during the winter season.

We can organise your transfers from Salzburg airport, Innsbruck airport, or Munich airport. You can also choose between a shuttle transfer which can be more economical if only a few people are travelling or a private transfer which will take you direct from the airport to your accommodation.
