Serre Chevalier Overview

Serre Chevalier offers 250 km of sun-drenched slopes. In fact, this resort boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year, but despite this, thanks to the high altitude of the ski slopes and their northern exposure, the snow is always in excellent condition. The ski slopes at this resort are particularly suitable for intermediate skiers, although beginners and more experienced skiers will also find something to suit them on these terrains. Serre Chevalier is also a top spot for lovers of off-piste skiing and ski touring.

The Serre Chevalier ski resort is made up of several villages, including Chantermerle and Villeneuve, which are classic alpine villages, and Briançon, where we recommend a visit to the Old Town, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Among all the villages that make up Serre Chevalier, you will find many restaurants to choose from, in fact there are more than 200. If you love French cuisine, this is definitely the place for you, although those who prefer international cuisine will also find something to suit their tastes. As for nightlife, Serre Chevalier is not particularly known for its liveliness, although you will find a few places to go after skiing. However, if you are looking for wild fun as well as skiing, Serre Chevalier may not be the place for you.

Things to do in Serre Chevalier

Things to do - Among the activities you can enjoy here in Serre Chevalier are ski touring, freeriding, ice skating both indoors and outdoors, ice driving, floodlit skiing and paragliding. You can also try your hand at torchlight descents. There is also a leisure centre with a swimming pool and spa if you want to relax. You can also watch hockey matches.

Restaurants - Although Serre Chevalier is not a large town, it offers a wide range of restaurants, more than 200 in total. Most of them serve typical French dishes in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, but there are also some international options. Among the restaurants we recommend trying are Au Plaisir Ambrè, which offers modern dishes with bold combinations, Le Loup Blanc, a modern restaurant where you can enjoy typical French and local cuisine, and Le Peche Gourmand, which offers French dishes with Asian influences, an interesting and unusual option.

Nightlife - As already mentioned, Serre Chevalier is not the place for you if you are looking for wild fun until the early hours of the morning, as it is generally a quiet place where you are more likely to enjoy a relaxing aperitif in peace. Among the places worth visiting are the Bar de L'Alpen, which offers live music and where you can also watch sports on TV, La Grotte, located right at the end of the ski slopes, which during the day becomes a bar where you can enjoy a drink, Bar 1420, which offers excellent drinks, beer and wine and DJ sets, Le Royal, a classic après-ski venue, Le Coccoon, a small, family-run bar where you can relax at the end of the day with an alcoholic or non-alcoholic drink, and Le Chazelay, where you can enjoy après-ski on the terrace and dance to DJ sets at night.
