Wengen Overview
Wengen is a charming car-free ski resort in the heart of the Jungfrau region, famous for its stunning alpine scenery, traditional Swiss atmosphere, and excellent access to one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland. Connected to the Grindelwald–Wengen ski region, the resort offers over 100 km of pistes suitable for beginners, intermediates, and advanced skiers, with spectacular views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Wengen is also internationally known for hosting the legendary Lauberhorn downhill race, one of the most iconic events on the Alpine Ski World Cup calendar.
The village itself combines historic chalet architecture with a peaceful and family-friendly atmosphere, as cars are not permitted and access is mainly by mountain railway. Visitors can enjoy cosy hotels, traditional restaurants, panoramic mountain terraces, and a relaxed après-ski scene. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, winter activities include sledding, winter hiking, snowshoeing, and scenic train excursions to nearby destinations such as Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. With its breathtaking scenery and authentic alpine charm, Wengen remains one of the most attractive winter resorts in the Swiss Alps.
