Overview

The Kronplatz ski resort, which is part of the large Dolomiti Superski group, It is made up of a single mountain and all the ski lifts meet at the top. This location is popular thanks to its ultra-modern and fast ski lifts and wide slopes suitable for all levels.

From the wide and slightly steep blue slopes. ideal for those skiing for the first time and for beginners, to the numerous red slopes to choose from for intermediate skiers to the fabulous black slopes. Especially worth mentioning are the Hernegg, the Sylvester, the Piculin and the Erta (where World Cup races are also held), accessible to the most expert skiers. Both on the top of the mountain and along the slopes you will find many refuges and huts where you can refresh yourself and enjoy excellent dishes of local and Italian cuisine.

At the foot of Kronplatz there are several villages where guests can stay.

The largest is Brunico, which is a proper town where you’ll find plenty of restaurants, bars and shops. It’s a 5-minute bus ride from the ski lifts, and there’s a frequent shuttle service (for a fee) that will take you straight to the slopes. Then there’s Riscone, which is the village closest to the slopes, as you can walk straight to the lifts. This is where most of the hotels are located, and most of them offer half-board accommodation. There aren’t many restaurants and bars, but there is a wide range of après-ski options to choose from. Then there is Olang (Valdaora in Italian), a village divided into two parts, Lower Olang and Upper Olang, where there are many hotels, particularly those offering half-board. From Upper Olang, you’ll find the cable car that takes you to the summit of Kronplatz. A paid bus service also operates here. The final village is San Vigilio di Marebbe, a typical mountain village offering a wide range of hotels, bars and restaurants. Some accommodation is situated right next to the ski slopes, so you can access the lifts directly on foot; for those further away, a bus service is available. San Vigilio is also located only 20 minutes by bus from Alta Badia, where you can start the Sellaronda Tour.

Kronplatz area offers more than 30 restaurants, for all tastes and budgets, from pizza, to pasta to typical dishes of the region.

There are several apres-ski bars in the Kronplatz area, especially in Riscone, where you can either have a quiet drink or let loose at the end of the slopes.
