Lech is a chic resort with a fast, modern, efficient lift system to the Arlberg Ski area. It's also one of the top resorts in Europe for snowfall each year making it a popular destination for powder lovers.

With wide open slopes beautifully groomed each day and 305km of pistes to explore in the Arlberg region, it's easy to see why this is a popular choice for holidays (and also the Dutch Royal family)

Lech has some great family run guesthouses but is more known for it's high quality hotels, classy après ski and fine dining. The main street has a host of fashion shops, cool bars and cafes and it's fairly common to spot a famous person during the week

Things to do in Lech

Activities - Winter in Lech offers a great mix of outdoor activities, relaxation and traditional Alpine charm. Skiing and snowboarding are the main attractions, with plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding Arlberg mountains. Visitors can also enjoy winter walks, snowshoeing, sledging and scenic horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snowy landscape. Beyond the slopes, Lech is ideal for enjoying cosy mountain restaurants, local cuisine and peaceful evenings in the village. Whether you are looking for an active holiday or simply want to experience the beauty of the Alps in winter, Lech offers plenty of ways to enjoy the season.

Restaurants - Lech has a varied restaurant scene, ranging from traditional Austrian inns and cosy mountain restaurants to elegant fine-dining venues. Local cuisine features hearty Alpine favourites such as cheese-based dishes, schnitzel, dumplings and other regional specialities, while some restaurants offer more contemporary interpretations of Austrian cooking. For a traditional atmosphere, Hus Nr. 8 is one of the village's historic restaurants, serving regional dishes in a rustic setting. For a meal with impressive mountain views, Rüfikopf Panoramarestaurant sits at around 2,350 metres and combines Alpine classics with panoramic views of the Arlberg. Lech also caters to visitors looking for a more sophisticated dining experience. Rote Wand Chef's Table and Griggeler Stuba are examples of fine-dining options, while Rud-Alpe Gastronomie offers a more relaxed Alpine setting. Apres Ski & Nightlife - Lech has a lively but relatively sophisticated après-ski and nightlife scene, with plenty of places to relax after a day on the slopes. The atmosphere ranges from sunny terraces and traditional après-ski bars to elegant hotel lounges and late-night venues. Popular examples include Après-Ski Bar im Tannbergerhof, where drinks and music create a classic post-ski atmosphere, and Skihütte Schneggarei, which combines après-ski with a lively evening bar scene. For cocktails and a more relaxed setting, K.Club BAR GmbH is another option. Later in the evening, Lech offers bars and clubs where visitors can continue the night with music, cocktails and dancing. Overall, nightlife here tends to combine Alpine charm with a stylish, social atmosphere rather than focusing solely on large-scale partying.

You can also choose between a shuttle transfer which can be more economical if only a few people are travelling or a private transfer which will take you direct from the airport to your accommodation.

If you are making your own way to the resort by car - make sure you have the "Vignette" sticker as you will need this to travel on the highways in Austria otherwise you would receive a fine.
