Avoriaz Ski School

Whether it's your first time on the slopes or you're an off-piste expert, there's a level of tuition available to help you develop and refine your technique. Ski school is also a great way to meet like-minded people and have some fun skiing together with everyone sharing hints and tips across the group.

Esf Avoriaz 1800 is the French Ski School based in the heart of Avoriaz, offering ski and snowboard instruction for children, teenagers and adults. Established in 1967, the school has a long connection with the resort and currently has around 180 instructors, most of whom are local to the area.

Located within the Portes du Soleil ski area, ESF Avoriaz provides an extensive choice of winter activities, from first experiences on snow to advanced skiing, snowboarding, freestyle, freeride and ski touring. This makes the school suitable for families and groups with very different levels and interests.

Ski / Snowboard Lessons for All Ages

Children and teenagers group ski school

ESF Avoriaz has programmes covering a wide range of ages. Young children aged 4–5 can take part in specially designed lessons, while children aged 6–12 have access to progressive group courses suited to their skiing ability.

Teenagers from 13 years old have their own programmes, giving them the opportunity to learn alongside other young people while developing their skiing or snowboarding skills.

Adult Group Ski School

Adults aged 18 and over can choose between beginner courses and classes for intermediate and advanced skiers.

The teaching approach focuses on progression, helping participants develop confidence and technical ability rather than simply following an instructor around the mountain. This makes the school suitable both for first-time skiers and experienced visitors looking to improve.

Private Ski / Snowboard lessons

Visitors who prefer individual attention can book private ski or snowboard lessons. These sessions allow the instructor to adapt the lesson to the participant's ability, objectives and preferred pace. Private lessons are arranged to suit the client’s availability; clients can choose the day and time, subject, of course, to the school’s availability (for this reason, particularly if you are travelling during the high season, we recommend booking your lessons in advance). Lessons are available for a range of disciplines, from alpine skiing to freestyle skiing, freeride skiing and snowboarding.

Depending on your skill level, you’ll agree on a meeting point for the lesson with the instructor.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding is an important part of the ESF Avoriaz programme. Group and private snowboard tuition is available for children, teenagers and adults, with courses covering different ability levels. Children's snowboard lessons start from 8 years old.

For riders looking for something beyond standard slope riding, the school also offers freestyle instruction. Participants can work on their technique and gradually progress towards more advanced tricks and manoeuvres.
