Overview
Le Grand Bornand is a ski resort situated in the Aravis Mountains in Haute-Savoie, near Mont Blanc and the Swiss border. The resort is divided in to two parts: Le Grand-Bornand Village is, at 1,000 m, and Le Grand-Bornand Chinaillon at 1,300 m. The resort offers around 90 km of ski runs for all levels, although it is particularly well-suited to beginners, given the abundance of easy, wide and gently sloping runs, which are ideal for learning. For intermediate skiers, there are 24 kilometres of red runs, and for more experienced skiers there are also a few black runs. Furthermore, the area offers excellent opportunities for ski touring and freeride skiing.
The village of Le Grand Bornand is a typical, charming mountain village, made up of traditional wooden chalets, some of which date back to the 17th century. Despite the village’s historic character, the ski facilities are modern.

Things to do in Le Grand Bornand
Things to do - As well as traditional skiing and snowboarding on the slopes, here in Le Grand Bornand you can also enjoy other activities, such as freeride skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and ice skating. The village centre, with its church, is also well worth a visit. The resort also has a cinema.
Restaurants - There are several restaurants in this area, both in the village and on the ski slopes. Among the places we recommend you try are Le Panoramic 1800, situated at the top of the Floria chairlift, which offers a variety of dishes, from traditional fare to meat dishes, which you can enjoy on the restaurant’s lovely terrace, La Taverne, which serves local specialities in a charming, warm and welcoming setting; L’Arpège, situated in the centre near the village church, which offers local dishes prepared with fresh, wholesome ingredients; and Casanova, also located in the centre, which serves both pizza and local specialities.
Nightlife - Le Grand Bornand isn’t particularly well known for its après-ski scene or nightlife, as it’s a destination that’s mainly popular with families with children. However, there are a few places where you can go for a drink: these include The Green Monkey, an Irish pub, or you can enjoy a drink in one of the many restaurants without necessarily having to eat a full meal.
